Think of a close friend with whom you can talk about anything. Maybe it's a spouse, a sibling, an accountability partner. Someone with whom you feel comfortable enough to share what's going on in your life and heart. Nothing is off-topic, but you naturally express whatever is on your mind. The hymn writer Joseph Medlicott Scriven lived in the mid-1800s and was an Irish poet and immigrant to Canada. He wants us to consider "What a Friend We Have in Jesus, " which is the name of today's hymn.
