Our Genomic Nutrition Expert, Emily Givler explains a systems based approach to looking at genetics. If you are making supplement decision simply based on SNP's you are likely doing more harm than good for your patients & clients. For example, variants in MTHFR does not automatically mean you need to bring in folate. You know this if you've suggested folate to a patient only to have them get worse. Likewise, GSH SNPs do not automatically necessitate glutathione supplementation. You have to validate your suspicions with the proper functional testing.
