Why Ancient Truth Needs New Words

Listen Later

Season 2, Episode 14

Can truth remain the same even as the words used to describe it change?

In this episode of Echoes of Ryan, I explore the central thesis of The Genealogy of Abiding: Conceptual Invariants in the Transmission of Divine Revelation. Rather than viewing Christian doctrine as a series of changing ideas, I propose a genealogy of faithful reception—a history of “abiders” who received, preserved, clarified, and transmitted the same revealed reality across languages, cultures, and centuries.

Beginning with the God of Israel and tracing the line through Jesus Christ, John, Irenaeus, Athanasius, the Cappadocians, Augustine, and Aquinas, this episode examines how authentic doctrinal development increases accessibility without changing revelation. I also explore broader implications for artificial intelligence, arguing that AI should organize conceptual lineages rather than merely retrieve similar words.

Accessibility increases. Reality remains.
