According to today’s guest Dr. Richard Horowitz,  you may not know that you have Lyme disease.  Often called the “Great Imitator,” Lyme Disease can mimic chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions, multiple sclerosis, even psychiatric disorders and dementia.  In 2013 the CDC announced that the number of Americans diagnosed with Lyme Disease each year is around 300,000, a number roughly 10 times higher than the previous yearly reported numbers.  Yet while the number of cases continues to grow there is still a lot of debate about how to diagnose it and how to most effectively treat it.   Dr. Horowitz, the founder of the Husdon Valley Healing Arts Center in Hyde Park, New York has treated more than 12,000 patients for tick-borne diseases over the past 26 years and is considered one of the country’s foremost experts on Lyme disease treatment.  He’s here today on Healthwatch to talk about his new book :  Why Can’t I Get Better?  Solving the Mystery of Lyme & Chronic Disease.
