Mel’s Mindful Moments - S1-E77
Have you ever wondered why you respond to things the way you do?
From birth to adulthood we experience so many different things in life.
With each experience we unconsciously form coping mechanisms.
These in turn embed themselves deep within our sub-conscience mind.
Which later become sort of an auto-response when we face similar experiences.
This auto-response also happens when we interact with people.
It could be triggered by certain personalities, mannerisms, looks or they way someone talks.
I’m sure you have experienced this when you first meet someone.
Many times our opinion of them are formed within seconds of meeting them.
These auto-responses can vary in strength, when it comes to people.
Because it all depends on how emotionally charged your experience was in the past.
Auto-responses are much harder to deal with then say, our opinions about something.
But you can begin by consciously telling yourself to let go of the auto-response for the moment. You will never fully let go of the auto-response, but you can put it on pause for a little while. And then allow the person or experience to expose the truth.
Truth will always come to light without any help on our part. But, by practicing this you can reduce some of these auto-responses and expand your understanding.
