Jesus slept outside the Temple, and in the morning when He was hungry he saw a fig tree, and he went to it, but it had no fruit, only leaves. Then Jesus cursed the fig tree saying: "may you never bear fruit again." Immediately, the tree withered. I often wondered why Jesus did this to a little fig tree. There is a good answer, and it is pertinent to today's Christians and their churches.
