In his gospel, Mark puts two stories together, the story of the fig tree and the clearing of the temple. In both these stories things look great from the outside but are not so good on the inside. The temple looked magnificent but wasn't bearing much fruit and Jesus decides to do some cleaning. What kind of fruit are you bearing?
