J and Diane welcome special guest Shelly Altman, member of Jewish Voice for Peace, New Haven chapter, to share what he is giving af about for this week's Street Tea series. This episode was recorded on October 7th marking the 3rd year of an ongoing genocide in Gaza and increasing violence in the West Bank- occupied Palestine.  Shelly gives important timeline and context to what is happening in Palestine and what he believes is the historical trauma that is impacting the world.

Shelly Altman is a software developer who has traded in software design for campaign organizing. He organizes for the New Haven chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace, both on his bike and off. For their second episode of Street Tea, J and Diane welcome special guest Tré Kayumba, Director of Yabantu, Inc. to the podcast to talk about what he gives a F&$k about -pay to play in youth sports. They have a great discussion about the economic blocks for youth, especially those living in poverty and/or from marginalized groups, to access sports- specifically football (aka soccer) in the US. Tré shares his lived experience with immigrating to the US and how these blocks increased his challenges for acclimation to a new society, as well as the benefits of playing organized sports that he sees through his son's experience.
