Matthew 22
Parable of the Wedding Banquet
- Note the response of people in this parable.
- Hypocrite is a person who speaks one thing but does another. He has a dual personality.
- The kingdom is God’s kingdom. The king is God. The son is Jesus. The messengers are the disciples.
- Aside from the day of birth, wedding is the next important in one’s earthly life. How much more if it is the wedding of a king’s son?
- Many people don’t have interest on heavenly things, rather, on earthly things.
- The responses of the people are : they don’t care, or they are rebels.
- God uses even unfavorable things for His will and advantage.
- Because of rebellion, people suffer.
- Clothes are given with significance. When there is an event, there is a provision for garment. Remember that the wedding is not about you but the son of the king.
- Some people come to church for their own benefit but not for God.
- Come to the Day of Judgment wearing the righteousness of Jesus.
- In the end, even those who hate God will be shut up. No one will have the strength to talk back to God. All will be left speechless.
- In the church, we do not do as we please but what pleases the Son.
- Regard heavenly things of great value.
- We have to see the earthly things as vanity and of no value to better see the beauty and glory that is incomparable, God.
- The responses of people about the wedding are indifferent, angry, self-serving, and the others are pleasing to the king.
- Religious hypocrites are placed with the condemned sinners.
- There are many who attended the banquet but only few come with the righteousness of Christ.
- Many are called Christians but only few are true Christians.
