Why does everybody talk about Reiki all the time?
Usui Mikao was born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 15 August 1865 and died on 9 March 1926, aged 60, of a stroke. He had previously healed himself of two strokes that he had experienced before.
Having suffered bankruptcy and experienced many hardships, he vowed to find the origin of suffering or die, and with this aim he went to a mountain near Osaka called Kurama, where he meditated for 21 days. He achieved enlightenment, and found that he had developed healing powers. He decided to transmit his healing power to others via attunement.
The core of Reiki are the Gokai:
“If only for today,
Do not be angry
Do not worry
Be grateful
Work hard
Be kind.”
There are four levels of attunement, with level 1 being the lowest, where you can heal yourself and and others, to level 4, which is the highest, where you can give attunements to others and teach.
In a Reiki session, the person lies down on a bed or table, and often falls asleep. Traditionally, the practitioner lays their hands in a set pattern on specific points on the body, both on the front and the back, with each position being held for four minutes.
Reiki has been said to help with medical problems, emotional and mental issues, in person or at a distance. Healing has been known to happen in time, both in the past and in the future. People, animals, plants, situations, relationships and places can be healed.
Everybody has their own healing power, but Reiki uses the healing power of the universe, and the practitioner channels the healing power that is all around us.
Do not try to use your own healing power to heal, unless you have attunement or you have been taught how to use the healing power of the universe safely. Watch the video on THIS PAGE of this website to find out how to do healing safely with out attunement.
Reiki can and is used in a medical setting, and is especially useful for people who do not want to be touched.
