Special guest Dr. Tyler Burton joins me to ask the question, Why does trauma matter?
Trauma is an internal change and neurological adaptation to an event or series of events like a physical accident, physical assault, natural disaster or un foreseen circumstance in one’s life.
Trauma is normal, Trauma is an effective tool for safety and survival and it is not the event we carry with us, but rather the imprint on the mind, body and brain. The issue is when someone has difficulty moving forward and adapting in healthy ways, finding acceptance, gratitude and reconnecting in what happened and where they want to be.
