So why? what's the point? Why is the Church called to be Salt and Light? 

"When followers of Christ are like salt they go out and confront movements of death and decay in order to sustain life for all.

When followers of Christ are like light they expose the systemic injustices of the world and they also expose the sinful hearts of humanity that perpetuate them."
