If it's true (and it is) that God wants us to be happy (because the Greek word for blessed also means happy), then why? What's the point behind our happiness? In the life of Abraham, we see the answer. Abraham could have chosen God's promies TO him instead of God's promise THROUGH him, but he didn't. When we allow God's blessings to pass through us to others, our generosity will influence culture and attract others to the generous God behind it.
