Nope not gonna. It’s just not my thing
Definition of Resolution:
A decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner. Conclusion, decision, determination. the act of making up your mind about something.
A measurement of the number of pixels -- picture elements or individual points of color. In practical terms, resolution describes the sharpness, or clarity, of an image or picture.
I really don’t like the cliche, “New Year New Me” to me, that’s pretty much a sales tactic people have come up with the promote their new program…whether it be to improve their health, their relationships, or a few different areas in their life they feel are out of control. To me…. “New Year New Me” isn’t really that appealing. It’s a bit exhausting to think about.
Why do we as humans feel the need to make a BIG change in our lives just because it is January 1st? How about we shift things around to say, “New year, and I’m excited to be Just Me” OR “New Year, and I chose to be the authentic Me” or "New Year, and Ima-gonna kick ass” just a few suggestions to replace the whole “New Year, New Me" cliche.
Yes, it is true that some people might feel like a different person compared to what they were a year ago….that’s totally normal to feel this way. I honestly feel different too…but that doesn’t mean that you have to spend the whole year, starting January 1st transforming yourself into an entirely “New You” Transformation is Hard sometimes, and it doesn’t just happen overnight. So that’s one of the main reasons I don’t create New Year’s Resolutions.
The Top 5 reasons I don’t Set New Year’s Resolutions
1) Resolution: The decision to do something or behave in a certain manner. It’s pretty much a waste of time, setting resolutions because by February 1st you feel like giving up.
2) Why do we as humans feel like the word is so Super meaningful on JAN 1st instead of just simply setting goals throughout the year?
3) My squiggly brain just can’t handle it. It’s a real challenge for me to set long-term goals without feeling anxious about it all. The word Resolution feels just WAY too heavy. I like to set goals and then do them in bite-size chunks.
4) My Stop doing list: it's pretty much the opposite of a New Years Resolution. Think of it as a "Letting go list"
5) Priorities: as a person with ADHD, my brain has a different level of thinking, processing, and prioritizing. Creating A resolution Jan 1st just isn't one of them
2023 is just around the corner. So let's stop feeling obligated to create a New Year's Resolution just because our coach told us we should start thinking about it now. Or our bestie said that they are creating a resolution and maybe you should too. Hip Hip Horray 2023 is nearly here. So Let's stop creating resolutions and just. Do. The. Damn. Thing!
