Why I Wrote a Book on Science Advocacy

I recently just published a book, Necessary Symbiosis: What Happens When Science and Government Work Together (and When They Don't), on the importance of science advocacy, arguing that scientists must take the leap into advocacy and policy making because scientists know their research the best. And if they don't go out and teach the public the facts and nuances, then other more malignant forces may hijack their research for their own personal gain.
