He pledged that a wall on the US-Mexico border would be erected and Mexico would pay for it. Four years later, the US and Mexican presidents have publicly praised each other while a naturalisation ceremony of immigrants to the United States was featured at the Republican National Convention. What has changed in US-Mexico relations? What has the populist left-wing president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, done that differs from his more conventional predecessor? Would Mexico support expanding elements of the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement to already existing trade agreements with nations like Australia?
