The Other Side of Education

Why is menopause being taught?

Listen Later

Who would have thought menopause would be a hot topic of discussion even in education? A few years ago, menopause was introduced as a topic to be taught in the National Curriculum of England. Menopause is simply defined as the end of reproductive life, which tends to come at an earlier age these days.

This episode's conversation is with my delightful guest, Kathyrn Colas, a menopause coach and advocate for menopause workplace awareness training.

With 80% of women experiencing debilitating symptoms which can lead to issues like hormonal depression, Kathryn points out the need to talk more about menopause in the workplace, schools and homes.

Highlights to look out for in this podcast episode:

  • Make the effort to initiate the conversation even as men
  • Normalizing menopause and having the conversation sooner than later is better
  • Get expert advice if you're experiencing unusual symptoms, noticing changes in your body or being more short tempered than usual,
