Hey everyone 😊 welcome to episode 31 of Rant Room. I wanted to talk a bit about therapy and why it is so essential for us as humans - particularly at this current moment in time, after all the changes the world has gone through recently due to COVID-19. A common misconception about therapy is that it is only earmarked for people who have been through deep trauma - this is untrue. It is beneficial to us all. There are always things we can't discuss with certain people around us. You might be able to tell 98% of your thoughts to your best friend, but you also may need someone to offload that extra 2% onto. Therapy is beneficial for the reason that it is completely impartial, free of judgement and scorn from the rest of the world. You're free to say whatever you want to, and dig deep without the possibility of offending or oversharing. You may even find that you learn more about yourself, or that you say things you have never admitted out loud. I have been in and out of various types of therapy since the age of 14, and this is the longest I have remained with one therapist. It's absolutely insane how much it has helped me in just five months - I have learnt more about my thought processes and actions since March than I had in the preceding 22 years. So, give it a shot, if you're considering it. And don't feel shame for needing therapy either - we all need someone impartial to vent to, it helps a great deal. Happy listening and have a great day ❤
