Why It is Possible to Disappear Anxiety in Society

Listen Later

Do you ever feel anxious? Do you ever find yourself worrying about the future? If so, this episode is for you. Part of my mission in my life is to disappear depression and anxiety in society. Until recently this seemed like a nice idea but I didn’t see any real access to how to make this possible. This episode carries on where I left off in the episode ‘What’s Really Impacting Your Mental Health’. The aim here is to deepen this initial conversation to help people escape the prison of their minds. Here is some of what you can expect: I share how anxiety up till 3 years ago was pervasive in my life. I look at why its unsurprising that there was a decrease in anxiety among many teens during the lockdown. I relate having anxiety to experiencing there being something wrong. I draw a separation between a reductionist view of anxiety, which is focused on reducing anxiety, from a disappearance based view of the identity called ‘I am anxious’ or ‘I have anxiety’. I consider the relation of anxiety to fear. I consider why the persistence of anxiety may be related to the notion of being right. All of this comes from compassion, personal experience, and an intention to empower people around what they experience as anxiety. The intention is to provide an alternative way of thinking about what leads for anxiety to persist for so many of us.
