Conservatism has often been linked with capitalism. It has been linked to libertarianism even more frequently. It is true that conservatives prefer small governments as do libertarians, but conservatives are champions of merit, not greed. Economic power is not equitable to merit anymore than political power is an indicator of merit. When we forget freedom is not a right but must be earned, we forget libertarians love of power and disregard for merit, is a cause for concern.
