Nigel Blieschke is the head viticulturist at Torbreck Wines, located in the Barossa Valley in South Australia. The Torbreck plantings in the Barossa are some of the oldest vines in Australia and have some of the most interesting soil types to grow in. Nigel has a keen understanding of the relationship between these soils and the premium vines that grow in them. We discuss the innovative methods he is using to cultivate vines that grow premium grape products for winemakers, and how the humble sheep is helping to revolutionise vineyard management with his unique approach.
