Many therapists, counselors, social workers, and psychologists work hard to earn their licenses, working in less-than-glamorous situations with supervisors who may not always be fully supportive. It's easy to view the license as the end point of a career, and continuing education courses as the minimum necessary to maintain the license. Too many therapists stop supervision entirely.
I'll discuss the reasons why we all need to be consulting with each other one-on-one and in groups, even after we're licensed, and the benefits this ongoing self-care practice can bring to our clients.
