In this video I'm taking a look at the myth that Victorians were always miserable. Typically we see lots of portrait photographs with the subject looking very wooden and stoic, so I thought I'd share how the use of posing supports, the limited technological ability of cameras, and the conventions of portraiture dictated how the photographs looked.
