Increasing numbers of teachers are leaving the profession and nowhere is this more impacting than at high-needs schools. Despite the exodus of educators, we find that some teachers stay no matter what the conditions. What can we learn from them that might stem the loss of teaching talent?

Sharon Jacobs is a National Board Certified teacher who has been an educator in North Carolina for over 19 years. She has served her community as a teacher for 9 years and as a school administrator for 10 years. The Last 7 years she has worked with staff to establish a thriving public Montessori Magnet school. Along with being named a New and Emerging Magnet School by Magnet Schools of America, recently Jacobs and her staff received the great honor of being named ASCD's Vision in Action- Whole Child Award Winner 2014.
