I don’t write-off ANY investments, but I want to make clear to everyone that ALL investments have their upsides and downsides. I felt compelled, today, to bring to light specific situations where target date funds are not optimal for investment. These funds typically make things as simple as possible for investors that only want to take minimal responsibility, but their simplicity is also to the demise of investors’ ability to take the appropriate amount of risk for the commensurate amount of return.
