There is always a reason for everything God says in His Word. That reason is the key behind the fulfillment of that Word. Whatever is done unto the Lord must be done with understanding. God treats us the way we treat Him.
WHY THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving preserves our blessings. When God blesses us, the way to preserve that blessing is through thanksgiving. Only God has the capacity to preserve blessings (Malachi 2:1). Thanksgiving is a preservative that keeps your blessing from being destroyed.
Thanksgiving perfects our blessings. Whatever God gives is just a fraction, and only thanksgiving can bring perfection (Luke 17:13–19). Whatever is not perfected cannot stand the test of time and can be destroyed by the devil. That is why we need to give thanks to God.
