One of the most basic questions in Christianity is, why did Jesus die for me? For most people, this is a question that has many answers. But the essential answer to this simple question is found in the opening line of the catechism. God wants to share his life with us.

The reason for our salvation from sin is because God did not create any of us for hell. God wants all of us to come to the saving knowledge of Him and live with Him eternally.
