Over the past month or so, there has been a 300% increase in the search rate of the term HELOC. I've seen article after article pushing the HELOC as THE way to finance your investment properties in today's economy.
A home equity line right now could really come back to bite you in the butt. Rates are high, and probably only going to go higher. And you're going to be paying a rate 200+ basis points higher then that. Right now that means you're going to be looking at 10%...
We're not saying you should never use a HELOC, we've used it before successfully. It's a great way to quickly fix and flip a property. But if you're looking to use it for a long term investment, there are much better options out there. The fact that it's becoming such a craze right now... just doesn't make sense.
