Life doesn't always go as planned. This week was supposed to be a celebratory one-year anniversary situation. I launched this podcast a year ago on May 4, in memory of my dad's birthday. Since dad's death, the first few days of May come with a wave of emotions with lots of happy memories, and a few tears here and there. But this year, our family dealt with another birthday memory. Their paternal grandmother passed away suddenly last year, just two weeks after the boys wrapped a fun-filled visit with her and Grandpa. Her birthday happens to fall on May 3, just one day before my dad. To round this thing all the way out, my parents' wedding anniversary is May 5. The house was a ball of emotions. With all of this, there were some powerful lessons. One, the anniversary episode will drop next week. I had to do some mom'ing in a big way this week, for my kiddos, my mom and myself. We talk about what we've learned about managing grief together.
