Stay/Go: Why was the man born blind?
John 9:1-42
Rev. Julian Wong
Why was the man born blind? What is the most important question to ask? (vv. 9:1-7)
• The Crucial question: What does the man need?
• The Controversy begins: How was the man healed?
The Interactions and the Identity of Jesus (vv. 8-34)
The Neighbors The Pharisees
The Parents The Pharisees again
The Finale (vv. 35-41)
• Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.”
Our Reflections:
• Who are the blind?
• Have we “seen” Jesus before? What are our stories? If we have seen Jesus, don’t act like we are blind
• Jesus is the Sent one and He sends us to proclaim that He is the Messiah, the Son of God.
• Are we the vessels of God or hindrances to God’s works by our presuppositions?
• Be the bold witnesses of God, don’t be afraid of being marginalized.
