Have you ever noticed how easy it is to lie? It’s no wonder, since Satan is referred to in the Bible as the “Father of Lies.” I’m sure nothing gives Satan greater satisfaction than seeing people everywhere, every day, telling little lies- even those seemingly innocent lies of omission. I read an interesting article recently titled, “Why People Lie” and the author offered several top reasons, “To avoid punishment. To save face. To avoid taking responsibility. To shift blame. To avoid confrontation. To get one’s way for personal gain. To be nice. To make yourself feel better. To protect your positive sense of identity. And to avoid uncomfortable situations or questions.”
Wow! We get very creative in justifying ourselves, don’t we? I think it’s important that you and I tell the truth with those around us. Jesus Christ is “the truth.” He alone can set us free from the need to constantly bend the truth. We need to share His truth with the world, so more people will be set free to become truth-tellers themselves.Who can you share this freedom-giving truth with today?
This is Luis Palau.
