Why We Need Other Denominations pt 2

Listen Later

Scripture For Today:2 Chronicles 30:18“Although most of the many people who came from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun had not purified themselves, yet they ate the Passover, contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “May the Lord, who is good, pardon everyone…”Why We Need Other Denominations pt 2

Yesterday, we introduced the topic of why having various denominations in Christian circles is so important. The Bible in 1 Corinthians 12 verses 12 to 27, you can read about the importance Jesus puts on various parts of the body. His reference is there are many parts and each has a particular usefulness.

If one part suffers, the whole body suffers. If one part is sickly and not taken care of, the whole body could die. If one part is removed or amputated, the whole body cannot function as it was designed.

I shared an example of your little toe. Most people don’t even give it a thought unless something is wrong. But if you lost your little toe, it actually impedes your ability to balance yourself and could lead to falls and that could lead to something more serious.

I also shared about building a house and the various parts and plans that go into that. I would like to emphasize that just a bit more today. I believe this is a very clear picture of the importance of the various denominations involved in building up the Body of Christ.

I also use this example of utilizing specialist in everything you do.

For example, we shared about laying the foundation before building the house. You cannot just go out on the street corner and ask someone to come and lay the foundation for your house. It just would not work out for you.

There are people who have made it their specialty, their career, to learn all they can about laying solid foundations. There are churches and pastors who do the same. Their calling is to study, teach and share about the foundations of the Christ. The Word of God. If you ask a new born-again Christian to teach on laying a solid foundation in the Word, they would not be able to do it as effectively and efficiently as a seasoned pastor who has studied and taught on this subject for many, many years!  And this is only the foundation we’ve been talking about.

There are framers, plumbers, electricians, dry wall experts, painters, window installers, roofers, etc. All have a place in building a house. If you try to skip using any one of these people in building your house, it will not turn out correct.

Would you hire a painter to do your plumbing and electrical work, too?

Would you hire a roofer to lay the foundation?  Both deal with building a house, but I don’t know if I’d trust a roofer to lay a good foundation. I don’t know if would trust a foundation expert to put a roof on my house!

But, when working together, all of these experts can put a house up in almost no time. They are experts at working together and getting the task accomplished. On time and on budget (in most cases).

What about interior designers? Would you trust them to do the plumbing? Would you trust an electrician to do your siding?  NO.

I pray that you are seeing the importance of having all of these individuals involved in their area of expertise and how they all work together to build your house.

Churches and various denominations do the same exact thing – WHEN THEY WORK TOGETHER!

And that is what we will talk more about tomorrow. Amen!
