Earlier this month, members of the University of Utah community helped share the word about why we need to #WashTheHate and stand against bigotry and hatred directed at Asian Americans that has surfaced during the pandemic. Mary Ann Villarreal, vice president for equity, diversity and inclusion explains why this discrimination reflects deeper and widespread discrimination. She also shares an overview of a new initiative—Check on Your U Crew. This initiative is aimed at encouraging the campus community to check in on one another, and particularly underrepresented students who often have fewer resources, during this difficult time of physical distancing.
