PharmaHack: Career

Why you need to make your career choice match your personality?

Listen Later

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life!”

Pretty good advice, right? Of course, this expression doesn’t mean that you will literally never work a day in your life. Rather it implies that when you love your work, it feels like a choice more than a burden

In this week’s episode we speak with Jordan Dixon, a pharmacist experienced in both hospital & community pharmacy and currently in her final year of medical school at Melbourne University.

Jordan shares her PharmaHack Journey & touches on a very important topic, about why she chose to go back to study medicine, passion and why your career choice should align with your personality.

Research suggests that personality might determine the career path you choose, and it may predict whether you are unhappy with your job. Several studies have also shown that people who hold jobs with characteristics and tasks related to their personality are more productive, happier, and make more money.

Topics covered include:

  • The state of pharmacy & the challenges pharmacists face in hospital
  • Why you need to make your career choice match your personality?
  • How to transition from pharmacy to medicine?
  • How to prepare for the GAMSAT exam & tips to succeed?
  • Does your pharmacist knowledge and experience help in medicine?
  • How is it working as a pharmacist, whilst studying medicine?
  • Challenges and hurdles of going through med school as a pharmacist?
  • Practical tips and strategies for pharmacists and students who wish to pursue medicine.
