Untethered with Jen Liss

Why you should let go, even when it hurts

Listen Later

What’s on your mind, unicorn? 🦄 Send me a text!

In this episode, I share openly about some of my current developmental growing pains – in particular, the pain I'm experiencing as I let go of things that are no longer serving me.

We can be so ready to grow into something new, but also simultaneously grieving the pieces we’re leaving behind. In this season of my journey, I'm experiencing this emotional duality, and it's hard. And yet, I know there is joy in letting go.

It's time to kick over a couple of the sandcastles I've meticulously built over my nearly 40 years of life. These castles have done their jobs beautifully, protecting me from perceived threats, working hard to keep my comfortable and safe. Now, it's time for them to come down.

When we're on the precipice of a big shift, our ego mind will pull lots of things out of its bag of tricks to keep us stable, complacent, and "comfortable." Fortunately, we can step aside, see it for what it is, and make the decision to move forward despite its scheming.

While listening to this episode, I hope you are able to use my examples to reflect on situations in your own life.

After listening to this episode, ask yourself:

  • What is one "sandcastle" I can decide to kick over this week?
  • How will I feel once that sandcastle is gone?
