Why you should not learn Data Science?

  • A HR contacted me some days back and told that they have trained 150 people in Data Science and can i refer them. Since i am not into Data Science, so told her no.
  • Two of my American students are doing MS in data science, but even in the US the data science jobs are very little.
  • Few years back, i had given an interview in a small product based company. That time Data Science was even more hyped. So, i asked the manager, whether they use Data Science in their product. He said that they tried but it was not giving correct results, because they didn't have a large dataset. So, they dropped it.
  • These things happen because a very few companies have that kind of data to predict something successfully. In US, i companies like Google, Facebook and other giants. In India, its flipkart, Cred and other unicorns.
  • With web-app development that is not the case. If you are even a 2 people startup, your product will be developed in ReactJS. From 2 person startups to all FAANG(except Google) and every company in between uses ReactJS to develop web-apps. Some companies uses Angular only and some Vue.
  • But with ReactJS knowledge you can apply to the crores of jobs which are available.
  • And with web-3 coming, more traditional jobs will move to the virtual world. It means more developers will be required and more startups will be formed. In web3 also the frontend is made in ReactJS and backend is replaced by smart contracts and other things.
