We flipped the script on Payday May to show the other side of those huge Hollywood payouts. Since we couldn’t find any examples of women of color making these kinds of checks, we’re looking at someone who’s been a champion for pay equity in the industry: Viola Davis in 2018’s Widows. Directed by Steve McQueen, Widows tells the story of a group of women who all lose their significant others in a robbery gone wrong and are left behind to pick up the pieces in a storm of crime and corruption.
