Would It Fly: Gun-kata?
Passengers, please ensure all selt belts and Nines are strapped, because where we're headin, you're going to need both. On today's episode we discuss Christian Bale's life as a Cleric, in the movie 'Equilibrium' and just how realistic it would be to implement the Cleric's Gun-Kata teachings, into the tactics of military and law enforcement today.
Gun Kata, or Gun Fu, is a form of martial arts in which firearms are used as an extension of ones self in order to defeat ones oppenent(s), not only in hand-tohand combat, but in a fire-fight as well. Well, atleast that's what it has been since Director John Woo introduced us all to it in the film 'A Better Tomorrow' in 1986. Since then it has become a staple of the 2000s and late 90s action movies, in which firefights are choregraphed like dances. As we've seen, GunKata works great in the movies, but when it comes to real life: Will it Fly?
Co-Pilot: Paddy Bukowski
