We’re back after a little hiatus, and apparently Caroline had a GREAT time while Shane was gone. 😂

Shane finally made it home from events in Boston and Berlin, Germany after basically forgetting what sleep feels like. So this week is a genuine catch-up. Caroline tells him why the house was suspiciously peaceful without him, what solo parenting while sick actually looked like, and why she maybe could’ve handled him staying gone a little longer.

Then we get into the important stuff: sex robots, a robot with an unnecessarily large butt, tech concepts that probably shouldn’t exist, robot vacuums and mowers we’d actually buy, and what Shane really thought about IFA this year.

We also get into Apple’s new foldable iPhone, that $2,000 price tag, all the Apple rumors that never came true, Vision Pro, and whether Shane should finally branch out and make iPhone videos.

Plus, we’re already talking CES — except this year we’re bringing our child. Caroline has given her exactly one rule: do. not. complain.

Basically… marriage, parenting, travel disasters, weird tech, Apple, and the usual nonsense.

Caroline had a girls’ night last night…and showed up to record this episode with one of the worst hangovers of her life. So naturally, that leads us into a completely reasonable conversation about marriage boundaries. 😂

How late is too late to stay out without your spouse? Is it okay to accept a drink from another guy? What about opposite-sex friends, texting an ex, having a “work husband” or “work wife,” strip clubs, giving someone your Instagram, or following thirst trap accounts?

We go through a whole list of situations and decide what we’re personally okay with, what feels disrespectful, and what is an immediate absolutely-not.

Plus, Caroline embarrasses Shane, we confess one of our worst parenting moments ever, and somehow a smart lamp becomes part of the hangover recovery process.

This week we’re talking double standards between men and women—and apparently trying to start a fight in our own marriage while we’re at it.

Who should make the first move? Should the man always pay for the date? Is it weird to have a best friend of the opposite sex when you’re married? Why can women turn down sex without anyone thinking twice, but when a husband does it once his wife immediately wonders what’s wrong?

Then we get into who’s supposed to provide, stay-at-home dads vs. stay-at-home moms, girls trips and guys trips, spending $2,000 on golf clubs vs. a purse, dads getting praised for basic parenting, and the never-ending argument over cooking, laundry, yard work, and the dreaded honey-do list. That part gets a little personal. 😂

We definitely don’t agree on all of these, and we’re not trying to tell anybody how their relationship should work. We’re just saying what works—or occasionally does not work—for us.

Also, somehow we made it to Episode 51 and officially passed one year of the Wife Approved Podcast. We’re still here. Somehow.

Apparently, being in a bad mood is a team sport when you’re married.

This week we’re talking about how much your spouse’s mood can rub off on you, Caroline’s luteal phase making another appearance, and Shane realizing that creativity can affect his mood as well. 

That turns into a bigger conversation about the way we affect the people closest to us — including how the things we say to our kids can eventually become the voice inside their own heads. Caroline also looks back at becoming a mom so young, being 16 and pregnant, parenting in survival mode, and why she still wouldn’t change the way things worked out.

Then we answer a listener question about what our actual workday looks like now that we both work on the business full-time. Who does what, why we mostly work in separate rooms, the ridiculous contracts brands send creators, and how we try to keep working from home from taking over our entire lives.

Basically: hormones, marriage, parenting, work, and Shane’s unnecessarily loud coffee grinder. A normal week around here.
