Welcome to the last episode of Season 1 on the Wild Child Podcast. Today, I have the pleasure of spending some time with one of my best friends Leon Náfate. If you know me personally, you know that I don't shut up about how much I love Oaxaca and more specifically, Léon. We met over two years ago and have sung together, been roommates, and danced into the night many, many, times.
In this Episode, Léon shares his story growing up in Chiapas, moving to Oaxaca, and starting a band. His memories waking up at 4am to cumbia music and heading to the cornfields, working in a tortilla factory, and discovering Selena Quintanilla. Also, we chat about our favorite spots in Oaxaca, and where to visit if you go to Chiapas.

MonAlicia Bakes started 2 years ago out of Alicia Reedy’s kitchen. With a young baby and some savings, she started an at-home cookie bakery, shipping cookies all over the US and internationally. When the Black Lives Matter and #BuyBlack gained traction again in 2020, MonAlicia Bakes went viral. Alicia is still scrambling to bake and send out the many hundreds of orders that came her way.
In this episode, I sit down with Alicia to talk about it all. From growing up in Maryland, to dealing with racism in school and work, to starting this booming business. We also chat about her favorite restaurants in Maryland, and her go-to skincare at the moment.
