How do we live slowly while also letting each day be fully lived?

The age old battle of an autumn girl in the middle of spring - even when she’s loving and living spring much more deeply for a change. And, I think that this is exactly what I need to tend to as April slowly begins to wind down. Figuring out how to live in the energy of the season, while still being true to my moody, slow soul.

Is there a way to hold space for both at the same time? Is there a way to be both an autumn soul and a spring lover?

This spring feels different. Its as if the energy of spring had taken over my body and I have just surrendered to it all, letting it all just rise up from within me and bubble over into my life.

Surrendering to the dark comes easy to me. It feels like coming home, settling down, and anchoring myself deep into my soul, my ancestors, and the earth. So, the darker half of the year suits my soul and will always be my home.

But, this spring I'm surrendering to the light half of the year.

I'm filled with all of this boundless energy of life and I feel called to reinvent myself and so much of my life. And the changes that I am feeling now, the new beginnings that are sprouting in my life, are giving me all the vibes of a rebirth, a reset, a restart.

So, I am taking a bit of action when it comes to the Wild Soul Collective.

For the foreseeable future (or perhaps until autumn when my energy turns inward and downward again), I want to move these weekly letters of seasonal energy, oracle card guidance, and podcasting to two times a month. One on the 1st day of each month and one at the midpoint of each month.

What are you feeling as April unfolds? How are you experiencing the energy of this month? Are you connecting with the feeling of a new beginning or a rebirth? If so, what is being reborn in your life? What is coming alive within you?

It’s Monday evening. And I am speaking to you during the last few hours of March.

This week, I encourage us all to welcome the soft, gentle, rising energy of April by getting busy. Let’s rise up from our dreams. And start to make plans of how we can achieve them. It’s time to take all of our ideas of how we wish our life to be and put them into action. It’s time to trust in the wisdom we received during the winter and use it to create the life we are meant to live. We don’t need to just wish for romance and magic, we can make it real - right in the middle of our everyday life.

So, welcome. Let’s spend a few moments together in community, even though we are meeting in different places and at different times. Wherever you are, I hope you are feeling a sense of peace and calm, at least right now.

I see the emergence of spring as a baptism of sorts into a new way of living.

In the life-death-rebirth cycle of nature, spring is the season when everything begins again. It is the point on the wheel of the year in which the earth is brought back to life and made new. And, I believe that this an invitation for us to also experience a rebirth and a calling to new life.

This week, as we step slowly into spring and feel the energy continuing to rise within us and within all of nature, is the perfect moment to practice our own quiet, solitary water rituals.

Hello, you.

We’re on the other side of mid-March now. Moving ever so steadily towards April and ready to cross over the threshold into the light half of the year in just a few days. On Thursday, as the earth balances on its axis and experiences equal parts day and night, we shift into six months of longer days than nights in the northern hemisphere.

And I so need this shift.

As the spring equinox and the pagan festival of Ostara approach this Thursday, a new season is reborn. It is a opportunity for us to be reborn and renewed as well. It is the perfect time to create and participate in small, simple rituals for celebrating new life and the arrival of spring.

But, in order to be fully prepared for a new life, a new opportunity, or a new season, there is a bit of releasing that needs to be done.

Spring calls us to reach for our higher selves, to be reborn from the long winter, to embark on a new journey.

Join me in preparing for the season of rebirth by cutting away, clearing out, and letting go as a way to ready ourselves for spring.

I want to jump right into the card of the week, the TEND card, And, then, after we have pondered that, I have recorded a reading of my piece from International Women's Day - Renewing my call to women's leadership.

I think that leadership is the perfect thing to ponder as we ground and anchor ourselves this week.

So, here is my message for all of us - women, men, non-binary, trans, allies, queer, however you identify yourself - during this Women’s History Month. A call for all of us to become leaders as life unfolds and we become who we are meant to be

Happy March! Spring is almost here. And this week I am sharing with you all about how I am figuring out how to survive the winter-spring war, what lent means to me, and revealing the spiritual practice that I am committing to for the whole month. Hope you enjoy the episode!

Savage and Serene

March is both. It is winter and spring all at once. But, seasonal transitions are hard. All transitions are hard. Wandering in the wilderness is difficult. Silent, solitary retreats and pilgrimages are challenging. Moving through the seasons is tough. Letting it all unfold as it will, one day at a time, is not always easy.

But the rhythms of the seasons and the cycles of life move on. We change and grow and evolve. And, right now, we are right in the middle of the winter-spring war. Still, there is a deeper meaning behind it all and there is a way forward for us. There is magic to be found and wisdom to discover - throughout Lent, as the seasons change, and when we spend time with our souls.

Slow down this month and create space for your own spirituality. Seek solitude as a way to stay grounded. Commit to a daily practice or ritual. Find your inner voice or the divine light that shines in you. Think of it however you will. But, discover what you are being called to as we move into the season of rebirth and renewal.

Let’s just jump right in, ok? This week we are saying farewell to February. So, what am I feeling as February winds down? What are you feeling?

In February, perhaps we’re meant to feel all the feels. Like the delicate snowdrops budding and blooming surrounded by ice and snow, perhaps February really is everything all at once, as we move through the messiness of the transition of the seasons. A lesson that we might carry with us all year long. There is space for it all.

So, hold on, my friend. Dare to feel it all this week as you begin to let go of February and prepare yourself to welcome a new month with new energy under the magic of the new moon next weekend.

Until then, bask in the otherworldly, mystical, airy mood of February’s liminal light for one more week.

It’s Sunday evening at 5pm. The sun has just set. And we are just past the midpoint of this mysterious, liminal, otherworldly February.

I am writing to you a bit late today, as the weekend winds down, because my wife and I have had a visitor staying with us. A very special woman, let’s call her Mary, who was once one of the youth that I worked with in a Methodist church back in a North Carolina before I ever moved to Europe. In fact, Mary and I have not seen each other in about 17 years. She was a mere 13 years old back then. And now, she’s a beautiful, inspiring woman.

Her visit and the oracle card of the week have inspired me to create an altar at home.

The altar that I create this week will be my first concrete step into my new era. Something of a bridge between who I have been and who I am becoming.

Perhaps that’s what altars really are. Spaces where we can just be who we are in the moment. A place to gather, as the seasons change and the years pass, where we always come back to the core of who we are, integrating the past and stepping into the future. But, at the altar, for just a moment, we are just present. Surrounded by the mystery, the sacredness, the simplicity, the symbols, and the reminders of who we are. Right here, right now.
