Many cities around the world cancelled their New Years Eve fireworks displays due to concerns about COVID-19.

A few went ahead with a synchronised drone light show instead.

Could these drone displays one day replace the fireworks completely?

Maybe.

Think about it. 

Fireworks are noisey, smokey and certainly not cheap. 

Drones are relatively noise free and no other real pollution concerns.

And as the technology gets cheaper, I think drones may well be a great alternative to fireworks.

Perhaps this year will prove to a tipping point for the end of fireworks displays?
