A new EU consultation is investigating whether to impose 'fair share' taxation on big tech firms to finance 5G and fibre infrastructure buildout. Telecoms say that services like Netflix are using their networks without contributing to the enormous costs of building them, while critics worry any legislation will exasperate existing tensions between the EU and the US on technology policy.
