Do you know people who need God?

Everyone hope everybody's doing well and you've had a blessed week. When you go through your day to days, do you take every opportunity to share your goodness with other people that you interact with? Every day you come across someone that comes across your path, whether it be a friend, co-worker, family member, there's an opportunity there to share the good news with them.

It's from Colossians chapter 4 verse 5 through 6. “Live wisely among those who are not believers and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.”

Think about it, who are the people around you who need God? I want you to take a deep breath, close your eyes, and consider those who are close to you that for one reason or another are not following God. Is there someone in your family? Perhaps one of your friends? A co-worker? A neighbor? Having the right response for someone is not really about knowing how to win an argument. It's much more about living in such a way through the circumstances of life that others take notice. You want others to see a wellspring of strength and a daily resource in you. You want them to think there's something different about him. He has a piece I need.

When that moment comes, you want to be ready and to share about the source of your strength and courage. It is in the everyday moments that your life has its greatest impact. How others see you in the routines, accidents, stresses, and relationships will reveal to them who you truly are and what you truly have. How you live in your everyday life could make the difference between someone finding God or continuing to live apart from him. You never know what that difference might be to that other person. So when you have time in your interactions with others, take the time to show them that you're what strength you have in your courage and that God gives you that strength and courage. It could help that other person and it could turn things around for them.

So just a prayer for us. God, let me live constantly in your patterns every day so I may be ready to share at any moment how great you are. God help me to share the good news that you have. God help me to show the strength and courage that you have given me to show others that they too can have that same strength and courage. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Do you take time to pray?

Blessings everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. I sincerely apologize for a delayed podcast message as we all suffered losses. I recently had lost a very close friend of mine, best friend unexpectedly, and I just need to take a little time away to to go through that. While going through the loss and dealing with it, I spent a lot of time in prayer. And this week's message I thought would be fitting to kind of entitle, “Devoted to Prayer.” From Colossians chapter 4 verse 2, “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.”

Stop everything you're doing, even for just a few minutes and pray. Put aside your anxieties, put to rest your weighted burdens, and have a conversation with God. Take a moment to pray for your own relationship with God. What has he done in your life that makes you thankful? Where do you need to realign yourself with his spirit? What requests, what needs could you put in his hands? Take a moment to ask God what his plans are for you. Devote yourself to prayer.

Now take a moment to pray for the people in your life. I spent a lot of time doing that over the past week. What has God done in them that makes you thankful? Where do you need to realign their priorities with the Holy Spirit? What requests and what needs do they have that you could entrust to the Lord's hands? Take a moment to ask God what he sees when he looks upon them. Devote yourself to prayer.

All these questions I asked myself and each one of them was slowly answered by God in one way or another. So I encourage you take time to pray. Pray for your loved ones, pray for your family, your friends, your co-workers. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. God has given us each day that he has blessed us with. We are to take advantage of that day doing his will and his work.

So let me finish out with a prayer. God remind me to be constantly talking to you. Don't let me neglect coming to you in prayer. May I become a devoted man of prayer for not only my own sake but also for the sake of the people you have placed in my life. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We must honor our parents no matter what we may be going through with them.

So this week we're talking about honoring parents, whether it be your grandparents, your parents, or even step parents. Honoring them is an important thing to do and what the Bible says. So from Ephesians chapter 6 verse 1 through 3, “Children obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. Honor your father and mother. This is the first commandment with the promise. If you honor your father and mother, things will go well for you and you will have a long life on the earth.”

As children, we were under the authority of our parents and had to obey them, but in that obedience we may or may not have honored them. This was determined by our attitude. As adults, while we are no longer bound to obey our parents, we are to honor them. Think of what this demonstrates to those around us.

· We honor our parents when we ask for advice, showing we view them as wise.

· We honor our parents when we speak kindly of them, indicating respect.

· We honor our parents when we spend time with them, indicating they have value.

We honor our parents when we defer to an activity they would prefer, operating and humility.

In each of these, we are showing others how we honor our parents and they are learning by our example. No matter what your situation is, you should always honor your parents. Whether you get along with them or not, they are your parents. Giving them the respect and honor that they deserve is the right thing to do and it's a commandment in the Bible. Jesus sees everything that's going on and though you may be going through a difficult time or hardship with your parents, you should always respect them and honor them. Though you think this might not be the right time if you're having a situation with them, but go to God, pray, and give it time.

So let me finish up with a prayer for us. Lord, my parents have taught me so much about life. Help me to honor their efforts by respecting and valuing them in ways that others see so they will be blessed. Help me to always honor my parents no matter what the situation is or what difficulties may arise. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

How do you handle a situation, family, friend, coworker that just gets on your nerves?

Hey, I hope everybody is doing very well. At the time of this recording, it is Father's Day, so if you are listening, you are a father. I wish you happy Father's Day. As we remember in this Father's Day, many of you may have kids, and sometimes the kids can drive you crazy, but we always have to be gentle with everybody. So this week's message titled Gentleness. From Proverbs chapter 15 verse 1, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit, and evidence that God is at work in us as the Holy Spirit takes residency in our heart. Because of this, the way we speak to people can reveal the degree in which the Holy Spirit influences and impacts our lives.

Sometimes it is those who are closest to us who can drive us crazy the most. We all have that certain friend or family member who requires an extra measure of grace. This can try our patience, but the way we respond to them will often be directly proportional to the level of grace we have received from the Holy Spirit. And when it comes to grace, God gives freely so we should do the same. Gentleness requires that we be present in the moment, remembering that our words are powerful and the gentle ones are best.

This is an important message for us to follow. We all get angry at times at our friends or co-workers or family members, but in the end, what does that solve? Nothing. Just more hurt, more anger, more frustration. Not everybody's gonna agree 100%. But at least if you can come to a truce, if you can maybe approach the situation with a little bit more gentleness than with harsher words, the outcome may be much better than you anticipated.

So let me just finish off with a little prayer for us. Lord, I remember many harsh words said to me in response to something I'd said or done frequently that led to escalation and greater misunderstanding than harder feelings and more harsh words. Help me to reflect on those moments and give me the desire to respond in ways that honor you. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Do you know what the most important lesson in the Bible is?

You know, when reading through the Bible, there's just one important lesson that is taught and we all need to know. It's a pretty famous verse from John 3:16. “So this is how God loved the world. He gave his one and only son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

This text is likely the most recognizable text in the Bible. If not in the English language, you will see it in the end zone at most football games and just behind the catcher or on the baseline at a baseball game. It will be just behind the backboard at a basketball game along the racetrack at an automobile race. It will be held high in a town parade by churches and individuals alike. Why? Well, because in it we find the most important lesson that there is. God loved us so much that he sent his son Jesus to perish in our place.

This is the gospel message in one simple sentence. Of all the things that we learn in life, it is this message that is the most important. A great way to remember the impact of this scripture is to read the verse replacing the world and everyone with our first names and then the names of those around us. So if you were to try that, it would sound something like this. “This is how God loved William. He gave his one and only son so that Marie, Wendy, Margaret, Paul, Wayne, Roy, Diane, Christina, Christy, Andy, Miguel, Ross, Michelle, Ben, Dustin, Angela, Roger, Sarah, and so on. But they will all not perish, but will have eternal life.” Do this often and we will all know the greatest lesson.

So let me just by end with a prayer for us today. Father, you loved us so much that you sent your son to pay for our sins. He took our place, perishing for us so we may have eternal life. You did this for each of us personally. Teach me to be grateful for it and to pass it on. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Everyone has pain and joy, but how you deal with it and get through it is also another situation.

Hey everyone, hope everybody's doing well. Hope everybody has had a blessed week. Everyone faces pain and joy. How you deal with it and how you get through it are completely separate items. This week's message is titled pain and joy from Revelations chapter 21 verse 4. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

As followers of Jesus, it's important for us to live with hope no matter our circumstances. The hope we have in Jesus leads to something like what John wrote about in Revelation. He saw an image of no more sadness and just pure joy. The question is, how do we start living in that reality right now? And how do we encourage others to understand that as well?

At a fairly young age, most kids get the concept of joy and pain. But as we get older, we tend to complicate these things. Try imagining what it could look like to have a world where there's no more pain, suffering or sadness. No, maybe a far stretch, but just try and imagine it. Describe what true joy looks like to you. It could be something serious or something silly. The idea is to get in the habit of thinking futuristically, imagining a future with nothing but joy and then beginning to live in that future right now. This is what hope in Jesus can look like. Get creative. Even in today's struggles, in today's world, we need to think about and look to the future with joy. No matter what you're going through, no matter the situation, there is always joy on the other end of it. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, as they would say.

So let me just end with a prayer for us. God, develop a greater hope within me to see your kingdom come and your will be done on earth now as it is in heaven. Help me to imagine a world without pain. Help me to be a guiding light for you in helping someone in the pain that they may be going through. Work in me as you would any of your children. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Do you try to rely on your own strength when facing a tough challenge?

Everyone, hope everybody's doing well. And follow up of last week's message regarding the Holy Spirit. This week, I thought I'd continue on with another episode. This week's message is titled, Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians chapter 5 verse 22 and 23. “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. There is no law against these things.”

Often when trying to rely on our own strength and willpower to be men and women of God, we fall short. It's just how we are. It's human nature. Jesus embodied the kind of person we all hope to become. God recognizes this need we have. And so he sent his spirit not only to guide us and lead us into truth, but to also develop character within us. A good fruit tree is planted in good soil, watered, trimmed if necessary, and given the right amount of sunlight.

Much like the fruit tree, we require a good foundation and proper care. We require the Holy Spirit as followers of Jesus. If we find ourselves to be people, men and women, who follow Jesus, but aren't exhibiting any of these qualities above, perhaps we need to ask God to continue to fill us with the Holy Spirit. If you've never done that before, take a moment and pray for it now. Having the Holy Spirit in you is a guiding principle of God. Like this passage says, us being men and women, we just fall short on being who God wants us to be. But the good thing is, is even though we fall short, God has such grace for us. He loves us so much that he continues to forgive us. Each one of us has the Holy Spirit in them. And if you feel like you need more, so just pray for it. In this prayer you can say, God, fill me with your Holy Spirit today, so I can become more and more like Jesus Christ. Help me to see and feel the Spirit that you have provided for me, for I know that I am a child of God. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

This week I wanted to talk about the Holy Spirit

So this week I wanted to talk about the Holy Spirit. From John chapter 16 verse 13, “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own, but will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future.”

We all experience various levels of partnerships in our life, whether with friends, co-workers, or family members. But there's another partner that we can rely on, and that's the Holy Spirit. It's to cultivate a relationship with earthly partners. We could say the same for our relationship with the filled with the Holy Spirit. It will serve as sort of a roadmap for your faith in life, as well as your parenting life.

Another name for the Holy Spirit is “counselor.” Take some time right now to consider God as a counselor, one who listens and one who comforts. What do you need to get off your chest? What are you struggling with? In what areas do you need direction, guidance, or comfort? God is your counselor. He has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit in each and every one of us. You may not realize it, but that's your partner. That's your connection to God. You can talk to God anytime you want. It doesn't have to be in church or talking with a clergy member. You can talk to God anytime. With the Holy Spirit in you, that's your direct connection to Him. So if you need to let something go, like it says, you got to get something off your chest, talk to the Holy Spirit. God's there to listen. He listens to all of us. He may not answer right away, but he is listening and He will answer you.

So let me do a prayer for us. God, continue to fill me with your Holy Spirit. Lead me into truth, the truth of who you are, as well as the truth of who I am. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Do you wonder what it takes to get through life's difficult situations?

Do you find yourself comparing to other people relating to their jobs, money, cars or property?

Do you ever find yourself trying to compare yourself to other people relating to their belongings or anything that they may have that you don't have? Well, this week's message is titled Comparison from John chapter 21 verse 21 and 22. “When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, Lord, what about what is that to you? You follow me.”

Sometimes it's easy to look at others and compare our situation to theirs. With other men, we might compare salaries, home sizes, car styles, and the list goes on and on. We frequently wonder how we stack up. We might say, at least I'm better than that person. Or if only I was as good as that other person. It's a constant game of comparison, and we start doing that when we're young.

How many of you may remember when growing up, you're comparing yourself to others, or even your parents to your friends parents. I think we've all done it from time to time. When Jesus was talking to Peter about Peter's life, Peter wanted to compare his future with that of another disciple. Jesus basically says, it's not your concern, Peter. Be concerned about Peter about yourself. You follow me. It seems the best cure for comparison is simply turning to Jesus and following him. Think about what comparisons you might be making in your own life, particularly as a man. How can you turn your attention back to Jesus? The same goes true for women. How many women do you know that are comparing themselves to other women? A lot of them do, but we all men and women need to remember that instead of comparing ourselves to other people, we just need to turn to Jesus and remember that we're following him. God made you the way you are for a specific reason. He molded you exactly the way he wanted you to be. If he wanted you to be like that other person, he would have made you like them, but you are unique in all that you do and all that you are. So instead of comparing, be thankful and grateful for how God made you as Jesus loves you no matter what.

So let me finish up by praying for all of us. God help me to follow you and focus on you. May I turn away from the temptation to compare myself to others. Help me to stay focused on you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
