Surf's Down, Beach Lovers!
As the crisp autumn air signals the end of another beach season, the National Weather Service Wilmington has officially closed the chapter on surf zone forecasts for 2024. From the sandy shores of Pender County's Surf City and Topsail Beach to the vibrant coastlines of New Hanover with Wrightsville and Carolina Beaches, our coastal playground is taking a well-deserved winter break.
Brunswick County's beautiful beaches - Bald Head Island, Oak Island, and the charming Sunset Beach - are also bidding farewell to this year's surf reports. Those picturesque stretches of sand where surfers, swimmers, and beach lovers have spent countless hours will now rest quietly until spring.
Our South Carolina friends aren't left out of this seasonal transition. The beloved beaches of Horry County - from the laid-back vibes of North Myrtle Beach to the bustling Surfside Beach - and Georgetown County's serene Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet are also powering down their surf forecast engines.
Mark your calendars, beach enthusiasts! The National Weather Service Wilmington will resurrect these essential surf zone forecasts on April 1st, 2025. Until then, keep your boards waxed, your sunscreen stored, and your beach dreams alive.
Stay salty, stay safe, and see you next season!
