Surf's officially closed for the season, beach lovers! The National Weather Service Wilmington has pulled the plug on surf zone forecasts as we wrap up the epic 2024 beach season. From the sandy stretches of Pender County's Surf City and Topsail Beach to the vibrant shores of New Hanover like Wrightsville and Carolina Beach, the wave-watching party is taking a winter break.
Brunswick County's beach havens including Bald Head Island, Oak Island, and the charming Sunset Beach are also saying goodbye to daily surf reports. Over in South Carolina, the popular Myrtle Beach scene and the more laid-back Georgetown County beaches are equally winding down.
But don't hang up those surfboards just yet! Mark your calendars because the National Weather Service will be back with fresh surf zone forecasts on April 1st, 2025. That's right - just four months away from new wave predictions and beach conditions.
For all you saltwater enthusiasts, this is just a seasonal timeout. The ocean's still out there doing its thing, waves still rolling, just without our official play-by-play. Use this downtime to wax those boards, check your gear, and dream about the epic swells waiting to welcome you next spring.
Until then, stay stoked and keep that beach spirit alive! The waves will be calling again before you know it.
