Surf Report - Wilmington NC

Wilmington NC, Surf City and Topsail Beach Surf Report for 06-17-2025

Listen Later

Beach lovers and wave riders, buckle up for today's sizzling surf report! The Carolina coastline is serving up some serious summer vibes with mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the upper 80s.

Heads up, surfers and swimmers: we've got a moderate rip current risk along most of our beaches today. From Topsail to Myrtle Beach, life-threatening rip currents are possible, so stay alert and swim near a lifeguard.

Wave conditions are looking fun but not epic, with surf heights ranging from 1 to 4 feet depending on your location. The Brunswick and Horry County beaches north of Myrtle Beach are seeing the most action with 2 to 4 foot swells. Ocean Isle and Cherry Grove, we're looking at you!

Water temperatures are sitting pretty in the upper 70s, perfect for cooling off from the extreme UV index. Southwest winds around 10 to 15 miles per hour will create a moderate longshore current running south to north.

Thunderstorm potential is low today, but there's a slight chance of pop-up showers. Waterspout risk is moderate in some areas, so keep an eye on the horizon.

Tide schedule highlights: Low tides are rolling in early morning around 6:30 to 7:00 AM, with high tides hitting midday between 12:40 and 1:00 PM.

Pro tip: Even with moderate conditions, always respect the ocean and your personal skill level. Stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and enjoy another beautiful day in paradise!
