A half billion dollar scheme will help 10,000 first-home buyers get into the market with a smaller deposit than they'd otherwise need. Buyers struggling to scrape together the standard twenty per cent deposit will be able to secure a loan with just five per cent and taxpayers will underwrite the gap.
