Winston Peters: Diplomat property dispute 'a disgrace' but necessary

Winston Peters says the case of a Wellington landlord being left $20,000 out of pocket by a European diplomat might be a disgrace but diplomatic immunity is necessary.
Eva Tvarozkova doesn't have to pay the rent she owes, or the damage she's done, to the $1500 a week property.

Our Foreign Affairs mounted a case on her behalf and the Tenancy Tribunal agreed.
Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters told Larry Williams diplomatic immunity is very important.
That's because diplomats could become the victims of a legal or political attack, have their lives threatened or property taken over.
"But now and again you get a downside like this one, where somebody has taken on a tenancy, is not paying up and the rules that apply to every other landlord-tenant relationship don't apply to them."
