Winton House celebrates completed renovation

Listen Later

The Town Mayor, Councillor Chris Paige, cut the ribbon to celebrate the completion of an expensive refurbishment  - over £100,000 - of the Grade 2 listed building at a ceremony on Thursday 25 September.

Winton House is an important part of the High Street’s appearance and traditions, and has also been relit for an impressive night time view too.

It's main purpose though is for the community, providing a base for over 10 charities, including Home Start Butser and Age Concern as well as the Community Cafe and many other events from the Veterans Drop in to the Dementia Cafe.

Mike Waddington, who is a trustee at Winton House, spoke to President Robert Venables, Chair Dr Richard Phillips, Sarah Moss the Manager, Nadim the architect of the works and the Mayor, Chris Paige, along with the volunteers who keep the cafe and information desk running.

There are photos at Winton House of the works and the surprising features they discovered.
